In every human’s life, medicine plays a very important role.  If we compare Halal food and Halal medicine, Halal medicine has been come in this recent time. Though the importance of Halal medicine can't be explained as to how important it is in Muslim’s life. Medicines containing alcohol for example, can be prohibited for Muslims, so it is necessary to stay true and fair when it comes to Halal products.

Halal pharmaceuticals or Halal medicine has turned out to be very important for curing and relieving pain. These medicines have to be strictly made according to the Sharia laws. Many of the regulatory bodies like Lembaga Pengkajian Pangan Obat-obatan dan Kosmetika Majelis Ulama Indonesia (LPPOM MUI) and Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) are incharge of closely monitoring the pre- marketing and post - marketing level of Halal medicines and Halal pharmaceuticals. According to the statical report, the revenue from the Halal medicines approximately one-third of the total revenue of the Halal industries in Halal trade, and it assumed looking to the increasing demand that he graph will only go upwards in accordance with the total revenue. Looking at the wide range of Halal pharmaceuticals available, the consumers consider themselves so safe and happy to find out all the ingredients used is Halal.

So, what are the ingredients we look for when we consider the medicines as Halal? The prime thing which we need to consider is the presence of alcohol. There are different types of alcohol for example ethyl alcohol such as methylated spirits and ethanol are  found in alcoholic drinks are said to be intoxicate and therefore harmful and haram for consumption. Another form of alcohol like stearyl is not found intoxicating. The fact that they are generally poisonous; there are no food or drinks containing this type of alcohols. But it will be shocking to know that many of the household goods contain this type of alcohol. Besides alcohol, many medicines are made from animal derivative ingredients. The most infamous ingredient to be highlighted as animal derived is gelatine. Gelatine is used as a part of medical capsules and supplements. This gelatine can be used if it’s stated as Halal, as it is not necessary that gelatine will be derived only from najs, e.g. pig. Not just the ingredients but the methods of preparing and packaging of Halal pharmaceuticals also matters a lot. It is necessary for the company which releases these medicines should have a distinction and should assemble the Halal medicines and Non-Halal medicines separately to avoid contamination. Ethical guidelines should also be provided in case of Halal food and beverages. Abusive treatments of animals in testing the pharmaceuticals to find out the effectiveness of drug can also be considered as Haram.

It is not an easy task to find out the Halal status of medicines and pharmaceuticals. People who are not well-versed might not know many of the medical and biological terms used to describe an ingredient, so they may be unaware as to what they are consuming. To overcome this problem, there are agencies and bodies which have come up with dedicated service by verifying and certifying the medicines as Halal with a proper checking of all the ingredients used to make the consumption easier. It is thus necessary to keep every Halal medicine and pharmaceuticals Shariah-shield while meeting the increasing demands for Halal medicines.

We would hence take the honour to invite you on 18th & 19th September 2017 For our Fair Trade Show Dubai to join us for the  largest Halal Expo which is going to be held and explore the huge potential.
